New Jersey Political Activity Compliance for Government Contractors (02/21/2024)

Governor Murphy signed the New Jersey Elections Transparency Act (the “ETA”), P.L. 2023, c. 30, into law on April 3, 2023 and later signed Executive Order 333 into effect on June 15, 2023 (“EO 333”). The ETA, as clarified by EO 333, marks the most sweeping changes to New Jersey’s campaign-finance and pay-to-play laws in nearly two decades. Although the ETA has simplified and streamlined New Jersey’s pay-to-play laws, government contractors still need to pay careful attention to the law and its requirements. Members of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (“CIANJ”) are invited to join Rebecca Moll Freed, Esq. of K&L Gates, LLP for this timely, high-level and interactive virtual seminar to discuss the new law, open questions and recommendations for compliance.

This seminar is being provided well before the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission 2024 filing deadline for the 2023 calendar year New Jersey Business Entity Pay-to-Play Annual Disclosure Form (“Form BE”). By attending this program, your company will not only have time to make sure that your Form BE is accurate, but will also have time to make sure that as we enter the new year that you have the proper procedures and protocols in place to ensure compliance with the law. The end goal is to determine how you can participate in the political process while preserving eligibility for government contracting opportunities.
